The 3 generations of Pennys (so far identified) in the 1700s.
William Robert was born (29 Aug 1717) in and died (13 Oct 1776) in Newmill – the first Penny at Newmill, it seems. It looks as if Charles Penny (born 29 Jul 1742) was the first Penny at Halmoss; his son James 1781 to 1858 was the “Whaler’s” uncle.
Three generations – and the “branches” start.
Marion Dunn contacted me in 2021. She and I have a link back to James (1781 to 1858). Her greatx3 grandfather (Alexander 1818 to 1889) is the brother of my greatx2 grandfather (William 1812 to 1891). Our connection goes back to over 240 years ago. The 1881 Census shows the brothers farming at Mains of Pitfour.
