The first challenge was identifying which members (of the very many Pennys in North East Scotland) are in a direct line from me, as far back as records show, to create a family tree from a forest of Penny names. Prime sources were – Flooer’s ‘O’ Scotland (for detail on the First 6 Penny Generations), cousin (several times removed) Laura Bozzay (for much valuable data linking current descendants with their forebears) and, to find the otherwise elusive earliest start point, the Penny-Cobban family web site (with the Auchterarder connection of 1658 and Christian Knight born 1695). A complete picture dated back over 233 years emerged – the previous 129 years has some gaps; not bad though!

10 Generations (click here for PDF) have been identified starting with William in 1658.
An extensive family tree with many roots and branches is recorded under Descendants at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Penny-1005
